甘寒苦，无毒。生山谷中，苗似葡萄长丈许，根紫色。今所在皆有之。

发明紫葛和血解毒，治痈肿恶疮。取根皮捣为末，醋和封之。《千金》紫葛丸用之为君，以其能散寒热结气也。
